Press release: MAAIF Starts Compensation of Project Affected Persons in Sango Bay-Kyotera

Kampala, December 19, 2025. The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (MAAIF) together with the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development (MoLHUD) have undertaken the verification of Project Affected Persons (PAPs) under the National Oil Palm Project (NOPP) in Sango Bay, Kyotera district. The Agriculture Ministry has now received the valuation and disclosure reports and the disclosed amount is UGX. 16.2bn (Uganda Shillings Sixteen billion, two hundred million). The government has availed an initial amount of UGX. 10Bn (Uganda Shillings Ten billion) to kickstart the exercise ofcompensating the PAPs.

All PAPs that were disclosed but have not yet provided their bank details, as well as copies of their National Identity cards, are requested to submit them immediately to the office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) in Kyotera district in order to facilitate expeditious compensation.

The bank details must include the following: i.The Name of the Beneficiary

ii. Bank Account Number

iii. Bank name and branch and

iv. Copy of National Identity Cardi
