The Generation of Agricultural Statistics at the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries is the responsibility of the Agricultural Planning and Development Department, which houses the Agricultural Statistics Unit.
The Statistics Unit within the Department of Agricultural Planning is directly under the Monitoring and Evaluation Division.

To provide timely and reliable statistics for the Agricultural Sector
Key objectives
To design and implement agricultural surveys, and ensure that the statistics and data collected are relevant, accurate and reliable. In this regard, the department works in close liaison with the agricultural statistics section of UBOS.
To analyze and compile the collected data into a comprehensive database for the agriculture sector.
To collate national Agriculture Sector Statistics for dissemination to stakeholders for dissemination to stakeholders.
