Background 

Banana bacterial wilt is the latest most serious constraint to banana production in Uganda which has caused a 13% decrease in area for banana production. To contain BBW a new Integrated Crop Production and Pest Management (ICPM) method mainly for management of BBW, banana weevil, nematodes, Fusarium wilt and soil fertility problems has been developed. The Project intends to use a Farmer Field School approach (FFS) a community based and practically oriented hands – on farmer training approach to contain the spread of BBW, plant new or rehabilitate affected plantations to enhance banana production.
