Sub-sector: Crops

Background

The project is a follow-up to an earlier UNDP supported project called Promoting Farmer Innovation (PFI) successfully implemented in Katakwi, Soroti and Kumi districts from 1997-2000. The PFI and sustainable land management (SLM) projects were developed within the context of United Nations Convention to Combat Drought and Desertification (UNCCD) to specifically address farm land degradation using successful community practices/innovations.

SLM project will develop the approach in the Cattle Corridor of Uganda, which is prone to desertification, in order to contribute the promotion of sustainable land management.
