Following H.E. The President’s initiative to promote strategic exports in the Agriculture Sector, strategic areas of intervention were identified including coffee, cotton tea, horticulture, irish potatoes, livestock and fish. Availability of improved planting and stocking materials to farmers was identified as one of the key constraints affecting export capacity in the Sector. The provision of planting and stocking materials to the farming community was accordingly identified as a key intervention for implementation in support of this initiative.

 

 

This intervention involves procurement of seedlings from private nurseries and distribution to farmers. The intervention also involves supporting farmers to establish own nurseries for multiplication of planting materials.
