Under the new structure the Policy Analysis Unit (PAU) has been merged with Agricultural Planning Department to become the Agricultural Policy and Planning Department.
Functions
Coordinating within the ministry all interstate, regional and multilateral policy programmes relating to or affecting the agriculture sector.
Identifying key policy issues and advising the Ministry accordingly
Developing and coordinating policy proposals for improvement of programme management in the Ministry.
Acting as Focal Point in relation to other Ministries and Government Departments for information at policy formulation stage.
Tracking and analysing policy level performance of semi-autonomous agencies and boards under the Ministry.
Studying policy alternatives and provide for back up information for each alternative and advise on the best option.
Coordinating policy research in conformity with national development policy and collation of reports and economic studies of the Ministry.
Liaising with Parliament to ensure that the ministry responds promptly to issues raised in Parliament regarding the Agriculture Sector.
